Civic House is an early 20th century printing press based in Speirs Locks North Glasgow. In 2016 it was acquired by community interest company Agile City to convert its use into a public venue, canteen and workspace.
Agile City’s core principles in developing the building has been to retain as many original features of the building as possible whilst creating a leading example in carbon reduction innovation as Scotland’s first retrofit ‘PassivWareHaus’.
Join Agile City and Collective Architecture, lead architects on the project, to explore the design and realisation of this ambitious venture. Find out more about ongoing aspirations for the space as an energy net positive public building, and how retrofit projects of this nature are a necessary step towards building sustainable cities.
Agile City is a non-profit community interest company that creates space for work, events and learning. We operate across two buildings: Civic House and the Glue Factory, both based in Speirs Locks, North Glasgow.
