Springburn Park’s Victorian Rockery – Clean Up!

Booking Necessary: Yes
Organisation Information:

Springburn Winter Gardens Trust was established in 2013 in response to the general decline of Springburn’s built heritage environment. The Trust’s key focus is to keep the structure of this A listed gem secure whilst planning its future as a major new resource for the community and wider area. It was in the 1890s that Sir James Reid of the Hyde Park locomotive works contributed to the development of Springburn Park and his son, Hugh made a gift to the Glasgow Corporation to build the Winter Gardens. The Park and Winter Gardens have become he lens through which to see Springburn’s history from its agricultural roots to becoming a worldwide leader in locomotive manufacturing.
