The Pipe Factory was built between 1876-79 and designed by architect Matthew Forsyth (1850-80). The Italian Renaissance-inspired design details are some of the most intricate and ornate use of brick to be found within the city. Friends of The Pipe Factory CIC have been awarded a grant of £1.9M from Scottish Government to renovate the building and turn it into creative community hub.

Calton Cats Exhibition – This year, work started on St James School in Calton, which is being developed to become a new Gaelic School. Glasgow Building Preservation Trust has been working with pupils of the Gaelic Annex at North Kelvinside Kelvinside Primary School to discover the history of dyeing in the local area, and during Doors Open Days will present an exhibition on the ground floor of The Pipe Factory.

Friends of The Pipe Factory CIC was formed in March 2020 and brings together the knowledge and expertise of three organisations; Articulate Cultural Trust, INCH Architecture + Design and Strange Field in a shared ambition to form a permanent home that fuels the creativity that will generate pathways to pursue individual learning and development in the fields of art, architecture and design. Fine late-Renaissance style church, with a 150-ft campanile, domed crossing and ornate marble-lined interior and painted ceiling.. Wonderfully restored. Now is the time to visit this beautiful gem.
The Revelator is Scotland’s only fully functioning Wall of Death, Clydebuilt with love by a group of dedicated volunteers. Handmade mainly out of recycled wood and wholly funded by public donations.
