Britannia Panopticon Music Hall
Visitors are always welcome at Britannia Panopticon Music Hall and if you haven’t visited before, now’s your chance to visit for free. We will be stimulating the senses with our fantastic display of artefacts and ephemera found in the building and costumes that you will be able to touch. We will be screening a collection of Lumiere film from 1896 featuring footage from around the world. These films have added audio effects to bring the sounds of the Victorian world to life. Britannia Panopticon was the most popular resort of the Victorian workers, many of whom were immigrants, famously from Ireland, during the potato famine, and Italy. The Italian workers established the first fish & chip shops in the city and bought with them ice-cream. It’s hard to imagine what life would be like without these delicacies today.

EXIT is a fully operating DIY, independent and artist run club and arts space which was opened in September 2023. The building on Maxwell St was once home to Fury Murry’s in the late 80s and 90s, and then repurposed into a strip club.
