Cloud Water Zen Centre
The Cloud Water Zen Centre is a Zen Buddhist temple in the heart of Glasgow city centre. It is located in Gordon Chamber, an impressive eight-storey red sandstone building built in 1903, designed by the architect Frank Burnet. The Zen Centre offers people living in Glasgow and the West of Scotland the opportunity to explore and practise Zen Buddhism. It was established in 2017 to provide a quiet and peaceful space in the centre of Glasgow, where people can enjoy some silence and calm amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. During Glasgow Doors Open 2024, we offer the possibility of discovering more about the design and organisation of a Zen Buddhist temple and learning about what it has to offer. You are welcome to participate in a guided tour of the Zen Centre, and to spend some time looking around on your own too. Our resident Zen teacher will also be available to provide more information and answer any questions you might have.

EXIT is a fully operating DIY, independent and artist run club and arts space which was opened in September 2023. The building on Maxwell St was once home to Fury Murry’s in the late 80s and 90s, and then repurposed into a strip club. The space has a lot of character, with the majority of the strip club interiors remaining largely intact. EXIT has a strong DIY ethos, platforming and growing the local scene and creative community here in Glasgow.
