Glasgow City Mission
Glasgow City Mission’s building was opened in 2009 and the five levels allowed the charity to greatly increase their work with those affected by homelessness, poverty and addiction in Glasgow.
Founded in 1826, Glasgow City Mission was the first City Mission in the world started by a young Christian man called David Nasmith. The City Mission movement is now worldwide but has its roots in Glasgow.
Please come and see where 80-110 guests eat a freshly cooked lunch or dinner every weekday. See our spaces that host one-to-one and large support groups for our guests. On level 2 you will find our Urban space where we have a small gym, music room, a pottery kiln, café facilities, laptops where our guests take college classes and apply for jobs – enjoyment, education and employment.
Your visit to Glasgow City Mission will dispel the myth that Glasgow City Mission is a soup kitchen. We are far more than that and we would love to welcome you here on Saturday 21 September between 10:00 and 16:00.

ORGANISATION
Organised by: Glasgow City Mission
Glasgow City Mission is the world’s first City Mission and has been at the forefront of compassionate care for the city’s marginalised since 1826. We offer spirit-led, faith-filled community to vulnerable adults and children within the city, by fighting against poverty and disadvantage in Glasgow. We strive to constantly adapt to the changing needs of our age and the specific needs of those we meet. Through our three projects, we intend to go further, deeper and wider with our guests for their benefit.

EXIT is a fully operating DIY, independent and artist run club and arts space which was opened in September 2023. The building on Maxwell St was once home to Fury Murry’s in the late 80s and 90s, and then repurposed into a strip club. The space has a lot of character, with the majority of the strip club interiors remaining largely intact. EXIT has a strong DIY ethos, platforming and growing the local scene and creative community here in Glasgow.
