The Deep End

The Deep End
The Deep End is Govanhill Baths Community Trust’s art space. The building was built in the 1970s and was formerly Fenwicks garage upstairs and a snooker hall in the basement – this is where the Deep End is located. It houses Rags to Riches – our upcycling project for textiles, wood and plastics, our arts office, ceramics studio and our archive. It also has lets out to other organisations such as Conradh Na Gaeilge Glaschú, Glad Radio, Outlaw Hairdressing and others. For Glasgow Doors Open Day 2024 we will present two exhibitions: 1. The Baths, 2. An Open Aye photo exhibition of Govanhill Baths’ phase 1B development. An exhibition of the original slipper bath doors from Govanhill Baths. They are full of curious and sometimes contentious graffiti from the 1940’s onwards. Come along and see if you can identify someone’s menshi! This exhibition will be accompanied by audio recordings from the South Asian and the Irish diasporas.

EXIT
EXIT is a fully operating DIY, independent and artist run club and arts space which was opened in September 2023. The building on Maxwell St was once home to Fury Murry’s in the late 80s and 90s, and then repurposed into a strip club. The space has a lot of character, with the majority of the strip club interiors remaining largely intact. EXIT has a strong DIY ethos, platforming and growing the local scene and creative community here in Glasgow.
