Castlemilk Stables

Castlemilk Stables
Join tours of the building, hear and share memories of Castlemilk and meet street artist Frodrik as he works on a new mural celebrating the history of the area. You can also discover the wide range of community activities on offer at Castlemilk Stables and Castlemilk Park. Castlemilk Stables is a refurbished, stables block, originally designed by David Hamilton in 1790 and restored and re-purposed by Cassiltoun Trust with architects Elder and Cannon. Castlemilk Stables was once the home for the horses and workers of the Stuart family, who lived in Castlemilk House (demolished in 1969). After falling into disrepair, the stables building was restored in 2007 and is now the office of Cassiltoun Housing Association. The multi-award winning building melds the original architecture with its modern regeneration and is also a thriving community hub and garden. It sits on the edge of Castlemilk Park, once part of the designed landscape and pleasure grounds of Castlemilk House. Tour times 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
