Glasgow Film Theatre

GFT-External15-eoincarey_071-scaled-1
What began as the single screen Cosmo cinema nearly 85 years ago, becoming Glasgow Film Theatre nearly 50 years ago has since become Scotland’s most diverse and best publicly attended independent cinema in Scotland, with Glasgow Film Festival one of the top film festivals in the UK. Glasgow Film is a national centre for film and moving image media where audiences and filmmakers experience and debate cultural practice and ideas through diverse, unique and quality programmes that transform the way people see the world, through film. Our building, 3 screens, bar and foyer are fully accessible. Please note our Doors Open Day tours include our projection box and therefore, due to a number of stairs to the projection booth, are unfortunately not accessible. This year we will also be showing a short commemorative film and having a talk in cinemas 2 and 3 about our 50 for 50 Campaign to celebrate our anniversary year. Although projection tours are limited for health and safety, the talk and short film will be accessible and do not require booking. Tours of the Projection Box Are every half hour and cannot be booked – tours are avalible in person on a first come first serve basis. Please note the Projection Box is not accessible due to a large number of stairs. All are welcome to look around the building during the morning even if they are not attending a tour.
