In this exhibition, Eiliyas’s methods of creating and composing sonic improvisations using feedback along with reactions and interactions with various media. While the primary medium is sound and will refer mostly to feedback-oriented methods of development, exploration and experimentation – the connection will also pertain to his research topic “The Blues in Technology from the Perspective of Sonic Culture“, rooted in James Baldwin’s sense of the blues. Eiliyas is a Macon born, Atlanta bred, Berlin-based artist working with sound, creative writing and conceptual art. He is also host and curator of Mixtape Menage, a platform for becoming familiar with creators and cultural facilitators of the world through their music collection. In 2023, he founded Black Communion, a space for highlighting Black and POC sound artists and experimental musicians, sharing experiences between Afro-Diaspora by facilitating the connection and collaboration between artists coming from various creative communities, united by sonic activism ranging from composition to improvisation and sound practices. This event builds on Listen Gallery’s dedication to supporting and facilitating creative exchange between communities on sound arts at a local and international level.
