The Pyramid at Anderston

The Pyramid at Anderston
Come and see some of our 22 rooms and spaces, lovely mid-century chairs, and other original fittings and fixtures which were specially designed for The Pyramid – you might even get to hear our original 60s sound system! You’re invited to contribute to our Weaving Our Stories Together project. Inspired by the Weavers of Anderston, an 18th century trade guild which still exists as a benevolent society, we’re creating three large scale community-made tapestries, interwoven with stories and memories of the area. Our weavers from Vevar, the first handweaving mill in Glasgow in 100 years, and our story collector, Alasdair Satchel, will be on hand – if you have a tale to tell about Anderston or The Pyramid, we’d love to hear it! The Pyramid owns over 400 mid-century chairs, which served as pews in the past (some are for sale) and furniture restorer Frances Easter will be running a renovation workshop (includes chair, charge applies). Find out more on our website, https://thepyramid.scot/events/event/pyramid-chair-renovation-workshop/ Between 2pm and 3pm, Frances will be on hand for informal conversation, questions and advice.

The Pyramid at Anderston (B-listed) was designed in 1965 by Honeyman, Jack and Robertson for the Church of Scotland, opening in 1968. In March 2019, the building transferred into community ownership and a first phase of renovation and redevelopment was recently completed The building is a notable example of Brutalism; the iconic roof is a focal point in the city and safeguards a well-loved and used hub for the community of Anderston and beyond.
