Collaborative Zine-Making with Migrant Voice

zine-making
Come along and contribute to our migrant community mini magazines! Since late 2022, we have published 17 zines featuring almost 150 people from all around the world. We invite you to read their stories and share your own. You are welcome to write about identity, belonging, LGBTQ+ community matters, cultural nuances, friendship, passions, and anything else to do with migrant life in Scotland. Even if you haven’t written anything for a long time or English is not your first language – plenty of help, guidance, and prompts will be at hand. You can write in any language and any form. And if writing is not your thing, why not make a collage, a drawing or a comic stripe instead? Selected stories and images from this session will be published in our upcoming zines, published as part of the Putting Ourselves in the Picture project made possible with generous support from the National Heritage Lottery Fund. The session is open to migrants and native Scots alike. We’re Migrant Voice, a migrant-led national organisation building a community of migrant voices to speak for ourselves and call for justice for all. From our regional hubs in London, Birmingham, and Glasgow, we facilitate spaces for community discussion, run campaigns, deliver training, host arts events, and tell our own stories in our own way. We aim to transform the debate around migration, campaign to protect migrants’ rights, and challenge racism, xenophobia and discrimination.
