FEELING BLUE : FIBRE AND DYE FROM THE INDIGO PLOT, AN EXHIBITION ABOUT SUSTAINABLE TEXTILE (14-15 September)

“Feeling blue” is an exhibition about Natural dyes and Sustainable fibres curated by French textile artist and natural dyer Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw in the Glasgow Botanical garden’s Kibble Palace. It features dyed and printed pieces using natural dyes grown on The Indigo Plot, a Natural dye garden in the Botanical garden and selected dyed pieces by artists and dyers from all over. During the Feeling blue Exhibition we will share our love for sustainable fiber and colour with visitors, some exhibits will be from South East Asia, South America, The Scottish Highlands etc… This is not about Fast Fashion or Carbon footprint, it is about using nature around us to create beautiful material… together, It is about sharing knowledge from different cultures to do this well. In The Indigo Plot, we grow Japanese Indigo, Woad, Flax, Genista… a whole range of great natural dyes and during the exhibition we will show you what we can do with it. On Saturday you can book a space to learn to create blue from Japanese Indigo Leaves and come and see how to make Yarn from Flax.
