Glasgow Afghan United – Allotment Open Day & Cookery Book Launch

Allotment 1
Nature, food, fun and family – it all comes together at the GAU allotment – helping our members connect hands-on with nature in a therapeutic exercise that’s good for physical and mental health, as well as good for the household budget. In our allotment we grow vegetables and fruit that we share with our members. (We also grow vegetables from seeds brought over from Afghanistan that are not grown or sold in Scotland!) This enables our community to cook dishes using ingredients that are unavailable here. Including Gandana, a type of perennial leek that is used to make the delicious traditional Afghani dish – Bolani. Please pop along, on Saturday afternoon, to try some of this lovely home-cooked flatbread along with a host of other dishes created from our newly published cookery book. Open from 1pm-4pm Saturday 21st September.
