Glasgow’s Heritage Crisis: Saving Buildings in Practice

Glasgow’s Building Heritage in Crisis: Savings Buildings in Practice
As a part of this year’s Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival, Page\Park want to engage with you on the current crisis Glasgow’s built heritage is facing, with many of the best examples being demolished or left to perish over time. There are currently over 140 buildings on the Buildings at Risk Register in Glasgow alone. Past, current, and future residents of Glasgow have a right to enjoy these buildings, but something must change to ensure these they last. As the festival celebrates and explores how immigration and emigration have shaped Glasgow, we will be taking the opportunity to further the discussions being had on the conservation of the diverse heritage Glasgow has. In the spirit of knowledge-sharing and collaboration, we invite you to join us for this event where a panel of policy makers, custodians, and designers within the construction industry will share and discuss their knowledge and experience in heritage based projects. As a practice we are proud of our contribution to saving some of the best historic buildings in Glasgow. Alongside the panel discussion we will be exhibiting drawings and models from our archives on key legacy projects and current project in Glasgow.

ORGANISATION
Organised by: Page\Park
Page\Park is an award-winning architecture practice with offices in Glasgow and Leeds, operating across the UK. As architects united by a commitment to the reuse of buildings and the regeneration of existing places they recognise that our built environment is not disposable. They seek to find the best qualities of existing places and celebrate them; to bring joy and clarity through carefully considered design intervention. They are an employee-owned business with an unwavering ethos: of being a creative community, united by a common purpose to design creatively, with integrity, and to make a difference. Since their foundation in 1981, they have earned a reputation for excellence in the conservation and creative adaptation of existing buildings. Now in our second generation, we maintain our commitment to the re-use of places, buildings, spaces and materials.
