‘Migrant Voice Zine Poster Show’ & Threading Stories -Exhibition Launch

zine poster & threading stories exhibition
Since late 2022, Migrant Voice has been publishing monthly zines (mini magazines) showcasing migrants’ heritage, experiences, and contributions to Scotland. The posters from the zines creatively explore different aspects of migrant life in Glasgow – navigating the new system, preserving traditions, making friends, overcoming challenges, and more. We are showing them alongside embroidery and textiles from ‘Threading Stories’ – a collective of migrant women artists led by Julita Hanlon. They use embroidery techniques to tell their stories of migration, remember their home cultures, and navigate life in Scotland. The textile artists and illustrators represent places all over the world, from Canary Islands to Yemen to Canada. The exhibition runs throughout the rest of festival week. Join us at the exhibition launch to explore stories and images from the zines, meet the artists, see their artwork, and grab a free copy of your favourite poster.
