Sacro Garden Project
Want to learn about growing for fibre? And try out fibre processing? Join the Sacro Garden Project in Tollcross Winter Gardens to make linen thread from our flax harvest. Together we will break, scutch, heckle and spin the straw into gold. This is our second year growing flax and we are using seeds saved with Glasgow Seed Library as we try to create our own landrace variety. We will experiment using tools made by Sacro volunteers. In this workshop you are invited to be part of the Scottish flax revival and learn about the diverse history of Scottish linen. Flax Day III is perfect for anyone interested in fibre processing and ethical fashion.

Our allotments and biodiversity projects engage volunteers with experience of the criminal justice system, or facing other challenges including mental health, addiction and disability. The project is designed to ease individuals into a routine and gradually build confidence and skills. Growing and learning together introduces structure and motivation. Participants are supported and mentored by Sacro staff throughout.
