As part of the Glasgow Doors Open Day programme, come along to this engaging and interactive event where Iain Clark joins writer and academic Alan Riach for a conversation about their respective practices.
Sound and Vision will be a poetry and photography face off.
The poet Professor Alan Riach will respond to the images of visual artist Iain Clark’s Love Letter to Glasgow currently on display in ARC. The pair will share their passion for Glasgow, the city that has inspired both their artistic practices.

Iain Clark is a practicing photographic artist whose work is in the permanent collection of The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery and in numerous private collections in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and India. Iain is recognised for his unique portraits. Born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1957, Alan Riach holds degrees from the Universities of Cambridge, where he studied English as an undergraduate, and Glasgow, where he completed his doctorate in the Department of Scottish Literature.

The University of Glasgow’s ARC hosts Iain Clark's solo photography exhibition, showcasing Glaswegians through monochromatic and color portraits. The exhibit captures the spirit of Glasgow, blending ordinary faces with local legends.
This September, the ARC hosts the immersive "Meet the MPN 10" exhibition, highlighting myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), rare blood cancers. The exhibit features 10 giant sculptures designed by artists, displaying common MPN symptoms. Visitors can further engage with these characters via augmented reality, raising awareness of symptoms that often go unnoticed.
