The Indigo Plot – Visit and experience an Indigo dye garden, Glasgow Botanics, Sunday 15th September 1pm & 2pm

#TheIndigoPlot is a small dye garden set up by textile artist Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw in the grounds of the Glasgow Botanical Garden. There you will be able to see Japanese Indigo and Woad plants in their mature state and experience fresh leaves dyeing natural fibre with them. Elisabeth will talk to you about working with Natural dyes and using a sustainable process in her practise. You will be introduced to the experience of growing dye plants and using natural dyes in your own creative experiences. The dye garden is a voluntary project and there will be an opportunity to support it by purchasing our own images in greeting cards & Indigo kits for home use Elisabeth chose the Botanical gardens for her dye garden because of its strong connection with learning about plants…. It was in 1817 that Thomas Hopkirk, a distinguished Glasgow botanist, founded the Botanic Gardens with the support of a number of local dignitaries and the University of Glasgow. The Gardens were originally laid out at Sandyford at the western end of Sauchiehall Street.
