Wiki Workshop – Exploring Migrant Histories of Garnethill through Archives.
Migrant Voice and Glasgow Building Preservation Trust are working together to add migrant places in Garnethill to Wikimedia Commons through Wiki Walks. In this first workshop we’ll look at how we can use archives – old maps, photos and documents – to help us find out about the past (and present) of our neighbourhoods. Our trainer will introduce you to WikiMedia – how it works and why it’s important to share our local places on it. This will be followed by a a short walk, taking photos of migrant shops and restaurants in the area, and learning how to upload and tag them on Wikimedia.

ORGANISATION
Organised by: Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and Migrant Voice
Founded in 1982, Glasgow Building Preservation Trust is a charity that repairs and restores historic buildings. Migrant Voice is a migrant-led national organisation building a community of migrant voices to speak for ourselves and call for justice for all. We put migrant voices at the centre of the migration debate by developing the skills and confidence of migrants, including asylum seekers and refugees across the UK.

This September, the ARC hosts the immersive "Meet the MPN 10" exhibition, highlighting myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), rare blood cancers. The exhibit features 10 giant sculptures designed by artists, displaying common MPN symptoms. Visitors can further engage with these characters via augmented reality, raising awareness of symptoms that often go unnoticed.
