Holmwood House

Holmwood, located in the Southside of Glasgow, was masterfully designed by Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson for James Couper, a paper magnate, and his wife in 1857–8. This architectural gem is widely recognised as Thomson’s most exceptional domestic creation, showcasing his incredible design legacy. This hidden South-side gem is all about art, architecture and design- creating the most perfect place for your Instagram feed! Restored by the National Trust for Scotland to Thomson’s original interior design schemes this is your one chance to visit the inside of one of his domestic buildings. Inside the house., there are tours, an imagination gallery, a cafe and a shop. Outside the grounds connect the house to the river Cart. All profits from our shop and cafe remain towards the conservation of Holmwood and the valuable work of the National Trust for Scotland.
