St. Margaret’s Church , Knightswood

St. Margaret's Church , Knightswood
Do come and visit this well kept architectural secret, dating from 1932, the last church designed by the well known Scottish Architect Sir Robert Lorimer. Outside, the building dominates Knightswood Cross and inside, with its lofty wooden ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows, it has the appearance of a mini cathedral. It also houses a musical gem, the 158 year old Father Willis Organ, reputedly one of the finest two manual organs in Scotland. After you have enjoyed the beauty and peace of this sanctuary along with a tour, if you wish, explaining the history of the building and the imagery of the beautiful wood carvings, with organ music playing in the background, there will be refreshments, including homebaking, available in the adjoining hall. There will also be activities for children to enjoy in the sanctuary. The Church of Scotland has announced its intention to shut this beautiful building as a place of worship, so this may be your last chance to enjoy its serenity and beauty so please visit us before it is too late. Saturday 21st Tour: 10AM – 4pm | Sunday 22nd Tour 1.30pm – 4pm. No booking required.
