The Laurieston Bar

pub 1
Join us on this opportunity to step back in time to the 1960s and explore the history of The Laurieston, one of Glasgow’s most celebrated pubs, and to understand why its unique design has been included in the CAMRA Inventory of Pub Interiors of Outstanding Historic Interest. The Laurieston became a listed building in 2010 for its well-preserved historic design which includes distinctive tiling, retro signage and fully intact Formica furniture. On this tour we will learn about the pub’s history, its relationship with the Gorbals, the artwork which graces the walls and some of the famous visitors who’ve called in for a drink over the years. Most excitingly, we will uncover the secret to a perfect pint of Guinness. The pub was described by Historic Environment Scotland as “an excellent example of 1960s public house design of which very few examples are thought to remain today.” Come along on our Doors Open Days tours this year to see what makes the Laurieston so special.

The space has a lot of character, with the majority of the strip club interiors remaining largely intact. EXIT has a strong DIY ethos, platforming and growing the local scene and creative community here in Glasgow.
