Southern Necropolis: Peek Through A Window On Time Tour

Peek Through A Window On Time Tour
Welcome to the Southern Necropolis, the Gorbals very own “city of the dead”, the final resting place of approximately 250,000 contributors to the rich historical legacy of Glasgow, including the likes of Alexander Greek Thomson, Sir Thomas Lipton, Allan Glen and the White Lady monument, say her name out loud as you walk round her three times, or she might turn you to stone. Opened in 1840 the Southern Necropolis stands as a unique “window on time” to the past, and a special environmental location, for the health and wellbeing for locals and visitors alike. This year our group is celebrating our 5th Community Green Flag award and the launch of our new heritage trail “A Window On Time”.
