A visit to the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre will reveal one of the hidden wonders of Glasgow’s West End. There is wizardry at work behind these closed doors – the magical world of masks and puppets!
So come and enjoy one of our free puppet shows on Saturday and Sunday at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, with tours after each show! Enjoy a barista coffee and home baking, and check out our wonderful new gift shop full of retro games and wooden toys, created since the pandemic and carried out alongside our building renovation and refurbishment.
Our cafe will have children’s colour-in/cut-out puppet and mask activities available to buy alongside light refreshments, home-baking and delicious Alfie & Co. Coffee. It’s an ideal place to start browsing the multicultural exhibits in addition to our reference and audio-visual library and workshop spaces. Since 1989 the Garret Trust and its Board of Directors has regenerated our former industrial building and transformed it into a thriving arts centre equipped with a unique theatre, workshop spaces, library museum and education resources. The cultural significance of our mission and activities has transformed the architectural limitations and possibilities of the building. It was established during the Glasgow 1990 European City of Culture and subsequently became part of Strathclyde Regional Council’s vision of an “industry of culture.”
