Glasgow Gurdwara

Glasgow Gurdwara is the first purpose-built Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) in Scotland and was built in 2013. It is a two-story building complete with the main prayer hall, Langar hall (free kitchen), and seven classrooms which are utilised for Sunday Panjabi School, Religious, Music and English classes. In April 2013, the Scottish Sikh community took a momentous step in opening Scotland’s first purpose-built Sikh Gurdwara. After 51 years in the previous Gurdwara, this was both an emotional and exciting time for the whole community. The new Gurdwara is situated in the heart of Pollokshields on 37 Albert Drive, right next to the Tramway, and it serves as the new home for the Sikh community of Glasgow.

Further Accessibility Details: There is lift for access to go upstairs in the main Darbar Hall(Prayer), should anyone to choose to do so. All visitors must take their shoes off downstairs and cover their head(head covering will be provided). Unfortunately, visitors own wheelchairs are not permitted upstairs due to health and safety reasons however, one can be provided at the Gurdwara.

EXIT
EXIT is a fully operating DIY, independent and artist run club and arts space which was opened in September 2023. The building on Maxwell St was once home to Fury Murry’s in the late 80s and 90s, and then repurposed into a strip club. The space has a lot of character, with the majority of the strip club interiors remaining largely intact. EXIT has a strong DIY ethos, platforming and growing the local scene and creative community here in Glasgow.
