Wellington Church

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Many people ‘know’ this grand building on University Avenue with its Corinthian columns but few have entered its sacred portals. Now is your chance to see the peaceful, elegant interior. It is a place of active Christian worship and has been since 1884. So you will be welcome to come for the Church service on Sunday 22 September at 11am. But the doors will be officially open for DOORS OPEN VISITORS who will be welcomed from 1pm. On Saturday 21 September DOORS OPEN VISITORS will be welcome from 10am till 4pm. You will have the chance to see the beautiful embroideries of Hannah Frew Paterson who lectured at Glasgow School of Art and was a ‘shining star in my team in the Embroidered and Woven Textile Department at GSA’ according to Crissie White who was senior lecturer from 1974 till 2002. Hannah was a devoted member of Wellington Church until her death, aged 92, in 2023. Other meaningful works of textile art from Kelvin Bridge and Anderston Kelvingrove churches will also be displayed alongside skilled work of individuals from all these churches.
