Glasgow Evangelical Church

Glasgow Evangelical Church
This highly ornate Italianate style church is located on the south eastern corner of Cathedral Square with eight beautiful stained glass windows in the lower Sanctuary made by members of the church, and the Historic Pipe Organ installed by Foster & Andrews 1887. Four Corinthian columns on top of which, standing on podia, are four statues. These represent the four evangelists: Matthew; Mark; Luke and John. Above the two doors two more statues, representing St. Peter and St. Paul. The sanctuary is U shaped with the chancel at the south end. The centrally placed pulpit dominates the chancel with its twin stairway for access. You will also see our Historic Pipe Organ installed by Foster & Andrews 1887 in its original condition. You can see the Certificate Grade 1 from the British Institute of Organ Studies in recognition of this fact which states as follows “It is therefore listed in the Institutes Register of Historic Pipe Organs as being an instrument of importance to the National Heritage and one deserving careful preservation for the benefit of future generations”.
