Join us for a very special free tour to learn more about the history and design of the Original Willow Tea Rooms Building, including the restoration of this Mackintosh masterpiece. Learn about the stories of the tea rooms and experience first-hand the astounding interior design work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald in their commitment to an Art Nouveau ‘total artwork’ approach to the building. The tour includes visits to the ground floor saloons, as well as the lesser accessed Salon de Luxe and Billiard Room. The Willow Tea Rooms Trust is the charity that looks after the Mackintosh original Willow Tearoom building on Sauchiehall Street. It was set up in 2014 to save the building from being lost and original interiors being sold to museums etc. The Trust believes it was paramount Glasgow kept hold of the Mackintosh treasure and have preserved it for future generations as both a heritage site and an education and creative learning resource for everyone.
